Hello, lovely reader. I’m so glad you’ve stopped by to learn more about me.
This blog you’ve stumbled upon is my attempt to explain and illuminate the strange journey of my life and the myriad of experiences I’ve had on this side of the veil.
Some of the things you’ll find here at A LIFE UNPOLISHED are personal works of mine – both poems and stories I’ve written and dared to share with the world.
I hope you’ll find that you and I are surprisingly similar as we muddle our way through this amazing and often heartbreaking world.
For starters, let me give you the basic stats (in case you like to start with those types of things).
My name is Jessica. I’m a recently widowed woman in my mid-thirties with a lovely son who takes up a great deal of my time (and a great deal of my heart). I’m bisexual. I’m interested in philosophy, nature religions, and love a good mafia movie.
I have an endlessly expanding TBR pile. I love blues and jazz music. I love hot chocolate with whipped cream. I love the smell of wood smoke in the fall.
I would love to get to know you as well, so feel free to stick around, rummage through my many posts, and maybe find a treasure or two to take with you.
