Tryst – a poem

Between memory
And the mirror
Two souls meet

Between stars and breath
Their longing and loneliness
Embrace,
Shed tears,
Whisper sonnets that never were
And will never be

Twin specters in a dance
With no steps, no music
Invisible
But inconsequential
For their souls to exist
In a cold, dark world of matter
That doesn’t care
And can’t understand
